Life tends to shift at times
as all the good times roll
and along the beaten path we tread
we find our lifelong goal.

So here we walk upon the sand
trying to pretend
that nothing hurts
and nothing dies
and nothing has to end.

Here along that beaten path
our fathers share, to say
that young men live and young men die
but old live everyday

So creeping forward
day by day
the seagulls passing by
I lay upon the rotting land
and lonely there I cry.

For the heavens wait for me
plotting once again
a good time here
a hardship there
intriguing me to end

this youthful
crowded
shattered mind
and all its trembling toys.
Creeping, trying
crying lies
and bending to the noise

inside my head
the world intrudes
and my imagination dies
and fades into my soul's abyss
remains replaced by lies.

Desperate now, this time of need
I hold my hands up high
praying for the rain to come
and cleanse me from the sky.

It can't be time to hold my breath
and shed my eternal sigh
I've still got years to make things right
I can't be ready to die.
So... I found an old poem I wrote years ago because I remembered one line from it...and decided to change things up a bit based on current life experiences.

I could use some feedback if anyone's willing to give it.

It's weird, I haven't thought about poetry lately, but it's been very therapeutic the last few days.
